Irrigation Systems Design and Installation for Seattle, WA Yards

Seeding restores lawn density after bare patches, heavy use, or poor growing conditions. Lawns break down over time from foot traffic, weather, and shade. Seeding reestablishes healthy turf with less cost and disruption from full replacement with sod.

We provide seeding or “overseeding” services in Seattle, Washington, and the surrounding areas, using NW grass blends and timed applications. The best time is spring when temperatures rise above 55 degrees. Don’t wait for summer unless you have a good watering system. New seed needs consistent daily moisture.

Lawn repair jobs often include preparation steps including: mowing grass very short, aerating, and de-thatching to remove thatch and moss. Then we typically apply a thin layer of new topsoil. Next we spread the seed and lightly rake it into the soil. Spreading peat moss on top of the seed is an option that provides additional  protection and moisture for new seedlings.  backyard lawns to high-traffic commercial greenspaces, our crews keep grass thick, stable, and rooted deep.

Seeding and Lawn Repair - Seattle WA - Plan It Vision Landscaping

Our Services

Overseeding:

We thicken tired lawns by adding seed to your lawn. Regional seed blends are chosen for durability.

Full-lawn seeding:

This is ideal after construction, regrading, or full removal of existing grass. Includes starter fertilization.

Patch repair:

We handle small areas damaged by pets, foot traffic, or drainage failures. Spot prep and matching blends create a uniform finish.

Aeration and topdressing:

Aeration opens compacted soils for better air, water, and root penetration. Raking better soils over an aerated lawn improves drainage and overall turf health.

Local seed matching:

We choose varieties that perform in the PNW, using the best options for sun or shade.

Proper site prep

Our processes are tailored to the needs of your lawn. We can recommend the right steps to take for a better lawn.

Over a decade of experience

We do this every spring and fall and can execute the job and minimize mistakes when the tie windows for this work are very important.

Irrigation Systems FAQs

How much should I water?

Seed and new seedlings need consistent moisture to prevent drying out. We recommend daily watering for the first few weeks, unless it is raining. After that, you can water less often. You don’t want pools of water, but generally the more you can water the better. If you continue watering in summer, the new grass will survive better. We have a watering instruction document if desired.

When should I schedule seeding?

Mid September through mid October and April through May. These windows give seeds enough time to germinate before major weather shifts.

How soon will the lawn grow in?

You’ll see sprouts in 7 to 14 days. Full coverage typically takes 4 to 6 weeks depending on weather and watering.

Can I mow after seeding?

Wait until new grass reaches 3 to 4 inches. Use sharp blades and avoid mowing when the ground is wet.

Is aeration included?

It is optional. Aeration improves soil conditions and long-term turf health.

Healthy Lawns For Seattle Properties From the Soil Up

Your lawn has a better chance of success when seeding is timed to match Seattle’s seasonal patterns. Cooler temperatures, reliable moisture, and reduced weed pressure create the ideal conditions for germination. We track soil temperatures and moisture levels to begin work when the timing supports strong, even growth.

Every lawn receives a site-specific evaluation before seeding begins. We assess compaction, drainage, and irrigation coverage to reduce the risk of failure. Plan-It Vision provides seeding services in Seattle and surrounding areas. Contact us to schedule your site visit today.
